Tapestry Weaving in the New Year: Reciprocity in Color

Do you make goals for your Tapestry  Weaving?

Do a Tapestry Diary? Plan to weave every day?

Some people do New Year’s resolutions.

Others pick a word for the year to live by- or several words.

And some do Tapestry Diaries.

Two Colors Dancing Together (5 strands Mora, 8EPI, 3 colors total)

With the exception of making goals, I’m not very good at sticking to any of these myself. However, I am often tempted to think what my One Word might be.  The word that always seems to surface first when I play this game with myself, is Reciprocity. It’s an underlying theme in all my work, and a word I hope to live by. (I’m a big fan of Robin Wall Kimmerer, by the way.)

But if I had to pick another word for the year in terms of my tapestry work (which I often do) - this year, it would probably be Color. I’ve long been intrigued by the changes in color, and the way one can change when placed beside another, especially.

I enjoy doing color studies with yarn.

For whatever reason, I do not “enjoy” doing these color studies in any other medium.

But with yarn the colors dance together.
