My Tapestry Highlights of 2021
Following up from the highlights of 2020, I managed to get through the move of wildflowerknits.com from Wordpress to Squarespace. Not as easy as they make it sound. If you’re into knitting, you might want to check out the videos and designs. Even if you’re not, you still might like my mom’s chocolate pie! Don’t bother with the blog; I managed to go through it and re-format most posts but pretty much parked it after that.
On to 2021…
In January, I was still in the midst of writing new weekly content for the Soumak course and dreaming of the day it would be complete! Most of my weaving was still going into samples for classes that month.
I was also continuing to add to my EPiC yarn collection and added some new value packs to the website.
February was all about finishing the content for Soumak and Dreaming Big. Most of the month my head was in the clouds anticipating the arrival of my new-to-me Shannock loom.
March was a bit of a blur because the loom arrived months earlier than I’d expected. I filled my journal full of thoughts and sketches for the first design on my big beauty of a loom. I was determined to get to really know the loom by weaving full width…
I also started working on the next online course I wanted to add, but mostly the month was all about the Shannock.
In April, I discovered Nearly Wild Weaving’s In Conversation talk with Joan Baxter, where I learned about an exciting upcoming workshop called Waterline - and started a study of Borders. Continual change of plans for the Shannock, a new Subaru, the first morels of the season, and I finished my Tree Spirits tapestry.
Planning Elements, my next online class, was the focus of May (along with changing my mind 3 more times on the big loom weaving). I also started working on the Prairie Songs series around that time.
I applied for the Waterline project in June, started advertising Elements, and continued sampling and trying out ideas for the first weaving I would do on my Shannock.
Hmmm… doesn’t sound like I accomplished much, does it? Mostly dreaming!
To be continued… (careful what you wish for!)
